Whole Grain Oatmeal Swirl Cookies

Whole Grain Oatmeal Swirl Cookies made with Joseph's Grainery Whole Grain Cookie Mix 
I got to help MaMa make these Oatmeal Swirl Cookies!  I love helping her "make recipes".  MaMa and I made them in the evening and I think we (my Dad included) polished off this batch of cookies by the end of breakfast the next morning!  Needless to say, these are tasty little guys!

Ingredients for Whole Grain Oatmeal Swirl Cookies:

1/2 c shortening
1/4 c butter, softened
1 2/3 c Joseph's Grainery Whole Grain Cookie Mix Base
1 c sugar
1 c oatmeal
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c chocolate chips, melted

Directions:  Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.  Using the whisk attachment, in your mixer, cut in the shortening and margarine into the cookie mix and sugar until it resembles fine crumbs.

Add the egg and vanilla.  Mix on low speed until the dough fully blends and starts to come together.

Remove half of the dough.  Stir the melted chocolate into the remaining half of the dough.  Taking a small piece from each of the dough halves, press the pieces together and roll them into a ball, creating a swirled effect.  Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet and bake for about 8 minutes.
