Whole Grain Cinnamon Rolls

Whole Grain Cinnamon Roll
For Father's Day, MaMa made cinnamon rolls, and of course she made them with whole grain flours.  These Whole Grain Cinnamon Rolls were oh, so gooey.  DaDa said they were the perfect Father's Day treat!

Ingredients for Whole Grain Cinnamon Rolls:

1 pkg dry yeast
1 c warm milk
1/2 c sugar
1/3 c butter
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
2 c Joseph's Grainery Soft White Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
2 1/2 c Joseph's Grainery Barley Flour
1 c brown sugar, packed
2 1/2 Tbs cinnamon
1/3 c butter, softened

Directions:  In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk.  Add the sugar, 1/3 c butter, salt, eggs and flours and mix well.  Knead the dough into a large ball with your hands.  Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let rise for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.  Lightly dust the dough and the work surface with flour and roll out to about 20 inches long by 16 inches wide and about 1/4 inch thick.  In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar.  Spread the softened butter over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

Starting with the long edge, begin to roll up the dough to form a log.  Cut into portions just about 2 inches each and place in a greased baking dish.  Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.  Serve warm for maximum gooey-ness.  :)
